I say you are right. And I basically think that DeKooning was an egomaniac - - but who cares. I have a post-card of him in his studio on my painting 'cart' which has been there about 20 years. Do you know the late white-ish paintings that he did? I really like them. The biography that came out a couple years ago was pretty damning about them.....fools!
